Can you share a bit about your background and role at the company?
GJ: Hi, I’m Gayatri Joshi. I am a Chartered Accountant by education. With my experience in finance, accounting, and software development at fintech companies previously, I now lead product development here at BreathAI. I’m also in charge of the finance vertical. Previously, I’d worked more traditional CA roles at EY, PWC, even my own set up, but things got uninteresting and the pace of technology adoption was slow. So, I started looking for more challenging roles, and moved to product management in fintech companies.
How long have you been a part of this team, and what do you enjoy most about working here?
GJ: I joined in March this year. I really like the quiet energy in the air! The team members that have been here for longer, you will see an unspoken understanding between them - work happens here!
What inspired you to join BreathAI?
GJ: I like the idea of being a part of making an impact in the mental health space of multitudes. I had met Sanjay and the co-founder before and I felt that I would fit into the culture here. It is content, not just packaging! And I continue to believe that this is the DNA even today.

Okay. Can you describe a typical day at work?
GJ: I am involved in various aspects of the product development, like helping define software and hardware requirements, breaking those down for implementation, collaborating with external stakeholders, ensuring finance, HR, admin stuff when necessary, and even interviewing at times. There are certain outcomes that are aligned to the company’s objectives, and I try to think through how to meet those internally and externally.
Interesting. What's the most exciting project you've worked on so far?
GJ: I’m mostly involved on all projects long term. I really enjoy trying to connect the dots between parameters from hardware and their various mental health metrics. On a separate note, I’m working on redesigning the office space to reflect all the young people working here!
That’s great! How would you describe the company culture and values?
GJ: We strive for accuracy and real impact. I think that each person here strives to be authentic and gain a deep understanding of their work. We are all set out to make a difference. We’re here for the long run, and we’re striving for ethical growth. We’re not focused on making quick money and moving on to the next thing.

What positive impact are you trying to create?
GJ: We’re trying to create science backed solutions without simply looking for short term results that may or may not last. Hopefully, we can make society more compassionate, patient, and emotionally and physiologically stable. This is a better society to live in!

How do you see the company evolving in the future?
GJ: I think it will evolve slowly but steadily, and work towards becoming a dependable brand over time.
What does a happier and healthier world look like to you?
GJ: More empathy. More aware people.
How does your team foster innovation and creativity?
GJ: At BreathAI, anyone and everyone can speak about anything they’d like. Our seniors are encouraging and allow us to explore and experiment.
Is your role/work supporting your professional development and career aspirations?
GJ: I enjoy doing what I enjoy doing. I’m hopefully learning along the way. My personal goal is to become a responsible leader irrespective of industry, location, designation, role. To me, it means that people see you as a dependable and responsible person, and your team sees you as a senior who will help them grow and meet their career goals along with achieving company objectives.
Have you been involved in any mentorship or coaching initiatives here?
GJ: Not yet, but I have tried to start the process. In a small way, I have taken a step towards allocating some funds for each team member for personal development. They can use it for online or offline courses, subscriptions, etc.
What's your proudest accomplishment during your time here?
GJ: Hopefully it will happen soon, both on the finance and product front. In general though, when I see appreciation in others eyes!
Lastly, can you share a particularly memorable team celebration or achievement?
GJ: We shipped a demo device a few months ago, and we had a small celebration. We’d worked day and night without breaks, so a successful demo was a great first step. The hardware team spent the maximum hours on it, and I played a role in stitching the end to end story for the prototype which was very satisfying. It was positive feedback to myself!
